Royal Caribbean Begins Construction on Fourth Icon Class Ship

Royal Caribbean’s fourth Icon Class ship is now officially under construction. The cruise line recently celebrated a keel-laying ceremony at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland to mark the start of the ship’s physical build.

To kick off the process, the very first steel block was placed in the dry dock. Following maritime tradition, freshly minted coins were placed beneath the block for good luck. This new ship, which has yet to be named, is scheduled to make its debut in 2027.

It will join the ranks of its sister ships—Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas, and Legend of the Seas. The fourth ship will feature a similar combination of amenities, including a variety of dining and drink options, thrilling activities, and relaxing experiences designed for all types of families and travelers.

It has been speculated that Icon 4 will be heading to Galveston, Texas, which makes a lot of sense since Florida’s three main cruise ports of Miami, Port Canaveral and Port Everglades will each have one when Legend of the Seas enters service in 2026.
